This issue of Design Quarterly was prepared to accompany the exhibition, "Japan:design today", held at the Walker Art Center in the fall of 1960. The exhibition was organized by Meg Torbert, Curator of Design at the Walker Art Center. The exhibition presented over 400 objects representing modern Japanese design including pottery, lacquerware, woodwork, bamboo, toys, straw and paper works, textiles, glass, implements of bronze, steel, iron and tin. A number of them are illustrated in black & white in this issue. Short essay by Torbert. 11" high X 8" wide, 64 pages.
